Research focus: renewable energy production and management

Research into renewable energies continues to explore increasingly efficient solutions for producing, storing and managing energy. The development of marine energies – offshore wind, tidal and wave power – is diversifying the energy mix. Significant work is being done on hydrogen production and storage.

Network optimisation and flow stability are becoming more efficient thanks to modelling, artificial intelligence and control systems. These advances are laying the foundations for an integrated, resilient and decarbonised energy system.

GENIUS - Developing a test platform for the production, storage and use of green hydrogen

With €2.8 million in funding, the GENIUS project underway in the LS2N Laboratory at Centrale Nantes aims to develop a full-scale test platform for integrating fuel cells and electrolyzers with seasonal hydrogen storage. This platform will support applications in both transportation, particularly electric vehicles, and stationary uses, such as buildings and low-voltage networks.

The GENIUS project aligns with the region’s hydrogen roadmap and reinforces Centrale Nantes’ commitment to advancing sustainable energy technologies.
