Abdallah Aoude received the ‘Outstanding Student and PhD candidate Presentation’ 2024 award from EGU (European Geosciences Union) in the Nonlinear Processes in Geosciences category.

Jessy Simon was awarded 2nd prize by ESCM for the best thesis defended in 2022 at ECCM21 (ECCM21 – 21st European Conference on Composite Materials for Academia and Industry), held in Nantes from 2 to 5 July 2024.

Imane Bekrine, a PhD student in the GeM Institute, received the award at the 12th ACI/RILEM International Conference held in Toulouse from 23 to 26 June 2024.

Centrale Nantes is ranked in the top 600 worldwide and in 13th place among the French institutions in the ranking.

Two PhD students from the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM) were awarded research prizes at RUGC (Civil Engineering University Conference) 2024 held in Le Havre from 28 to 30 May 2024.

Marinelle El Khoury completed her PhD in the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM) at Centrale Nantes. She was awarded the Centrale Innovation 2023 PhD Prize on 21 November during the organisation's 30th anniversary celebrations in Ecully.

Stanford University has updated its list of the world's most cited researchers by their peers for their scientific work. The list, which represents the world's most influential researchers, is based on an international transdisciplinary database.

The Shanghai 2023 "Marine/Ocean Engineering" GRAS ranks Nantes Université, which includes Centrale Nantes, France's leader player in ocean engineering, in 41st place worldwide. This makes it the first and only French institution in this ranking*, which lists the world's 50 best universities per academic subject.

Centrale Nantes is ranked in top 300 for Engineering and the top 500 for both Physical Sciences and Computer Science in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2024, out today.

Siddhartha H. Ommi was one of two finalists to receive a Ioannis Vardoulakis PhD prize at the annual ALERT Geomaterials workshop held in Aussois from 25 to 27 September 2023.

Rana Al Nemer, postdoctoral researcher at the GeM in the Environmental Geomechanics Research Group, received the Best Poster Award at the ALERT Geomaterials workshop held in Aussois from 25-27 September 2023, for her poster titled “Multiphase Flow through a Granular Material under Hydro-Mechanical Loading.”

Centrale Nantes is ranked in the world's top 500 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings published on 27 September.

Imane Elkhaldi, who holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from Centrale Nantes, received the award at the Congrès Français du Génie Civil, held at the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay in May 2023.

The congrès Français du Génie Civil (French Civil Engineering Congress), organized by AFGC, AUGC and École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay, was held in Gif sur Yvette from 23 to 25 May 2023.

Emmanuel Rozière, Professor and Director of Sustainable Development at Centrale Nantes, won the AFGC 2022 prize. It was presented to him on 3 May 2023 by Emmanuel Ferrier, chairman of the association's Scientific and Technical Committee.

Centrale Nantes confirms its excellence with a 7th place in L'Étudiant's ranking of French engineering schools published on 9 February 2023.

Centrale Nantes is positioned in the top 600 in the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings out on 12 October. At the national level, the school is the 5th ranked engineering school.

The 2022 edition of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is now out. Centrale Nantes stands out in Mechanical Engineering, climbing to the top 151-200, and entering the Management ranking in the top 301-400.

Stanford University has recently published an updated list of the top 2% most widely cited scientists in different disciplines - the World's Top 2% Scientists. 16 researchers from Centrale Nantes are included in the updated list - up from 9 last year.

Centrale Nantes Professor Nicolas Moës, of the Research Institute for Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM) and elected member of the Académie des sciences, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Liège on 19 March.

Researchers from the Laboratory of Digital Sciences of Nantes (LS2N) successfully established the basic technology for a wireless, battery-free acoustic biosensor. The result of their work was awarded the Best Paper Award at the Second International Workshop on the Internet of Sounds (IWIS 2021), organised in September 2021 by the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento (Italy).

On 26 November 2021, Safran group CEO Olivier Andriès presented Léa Guipouy and Mathieu Robazza with 5th prize in the USAIRE Student Awards for their vision on the future of aviation.

Rémi Parrot, a PhD student in the Control and Real-Time Teams at the Laboratory of Digital Sciences of Nantes and of the Renault-Centrale Nantes chair received the Best Young Researcher Paper Award at the MSR 2021 conference.

Tony Ribeiro, a post-doctoral student in the LS2N Formal Methods for Bioinformatics research group - in the framework of a Franco-Japanese collaborative project co-financed by the National Institute of Informatics (NII, in Tokyo) and the RFI Atlanstic 2020 -, received the "best paper award" at the 30th International Conference on Inductive Logic Programming (ILP)

Nicolas MOËS, Professor at Centrale Nantes and the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (CNRS/Centrale Nantes/University of Nantes) is a newly elected member of the Académie des sciences. Reception ceremony for elected members on Tuesday 12 October.

Arbia Ben Khodja, a Michelin CIFRE PHD student in the LHEEA Laboratory, received the Libersky Prize for the best work by a student at the 15th International SPHERIC Workshop, which was held virtually from 8 to 11 June 2021 from New York. 24 PhD students were in the running. Arbia's paper was on the "Validation of coupled SPH-FE hydroplaning simulations using PIV measurements".

Professor Nicolas Moës, of Centrale Nantes and senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France, received the 2019 ONERA Award for Mechanical Sciences for Aeronautics and Aerospace.

Hera-MI, start-up in the Centrale-Audencia-ense Nantes incubator, has been recognised for its international development. Hera-MI won 1st prize in the International Pitch Challenge on 30 September. The Challenge, organized by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Pays de la Loire region, was held in Laval and rewarded the international development projects of companies in region.

Maxime Robira received the 'René Houpert' young researchers award at the 'Rencontres Annuelles Universitaires de Génie Civil', (Association Universitaire du Génie Civil), which was held in Sophia Antipolis from 18 to 21 June 2019.

Publisher Elsevier awarded the authors of the article "Discrete reconfiguration planning for Cable-Driven Parallel Robots", published in the 2016 issue of the scientific journal "Mechanism and Machine Theory", with the Crossley Best Paper Award.

ASME (the American Society of Mechanical Engineers) recognises the peer-review contribution of Stéphane Caro of the RoMaS research group and LS2N Laboratory.

Matthieu Furet, PhD student in the ReV team and Philippe Wenger received the silver best research paper award at the MEDER conference (IFToMM Symposium on Mechanism Design for Robotics), which took place in Udine, Italy from 11 to 13 September 2018.

Prof. Alain Bernard, of Centrale Nantes, and head of research at the Laboratory of Digital Science of Nantes (LS2N), has been appointed a Fellow of the National Academy of Technologies of France.

During the BTP # LAB hackathon held in Nancy on 6th and 7th December, a team featuring a Centrale Nantes student won the Jury's special prize with their Op'Them project.

Marie Robert has been awarded the Académie de Marine thesis prize. She conducted her thesis on "Numerical modelling of the hydro-elastic behavior of vessels in nonlinear waves" from 2014 to 2017 at Centrale Nantes, in the LHEEA (Laboratory of Hydrodynamics, Energetics and Atmospheric Environment).

The research collaboration between EDYCEM BPE and Centrale Nantes - within the framework of the "Innovative Concrete for New Applications" Industrial Chair - has led to an award for EDYCEM's SMARTCEM®, connected concrete in the 'Trophées de la Construction 2018' (Construction Awards).

On 27 June, David Le Touzé, Centrale Nantes Professor and LHEEA researcher, received the Joe Monaghan prize, for the second time running, alongside his Italian co-authors from INSEAN, a research institute of the CNR (National Research Council of Italy).

Centrale Nantes is playing host to the 24th edition of the Inter-Ecoles Centrale Research Symposium (CRIEC) for the week commencing Monday 25th June 2018. The four-day event gives 100 PhD students from the five Ecoles Centrale, (Centrale Supélec, Centrale Lyon, Centrale Nantes, Centrale Lille and Centrale Marseille), the opportunity to exchange views and present their research work during plenary sessions and oral presentations dealing with topics ranging from additive manufacturing, to marine renewable energies, or robotics etc.

Congratulations to the PhD student Tugdual LE NÉEL who, accompanied by Jean-Yves Hascoët, his thesis supervisor, and Pascal Mognol, co-thesis supervisor, received the Dick Aubin Distinguished Paper Award at the Rapid & TCT Conference on 23rd April 23rd in Texas. The jury considered his work on the combination of different materials to create a very promising binder injection mold to address some of the current challenges in traditional sand casting.

Prof. Ahmed LOUKILI, Centrale Nantes, was appointed member of the Board of Directors of the Ecole Française du Beton on November 27th.

Hermine TERTRAIS, PhD student at Centrale Nantes in the GeM - Institute for Research in Civil and Mechanical Engineering, received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 51st International Microwave Power Institute (IMPI) Symposium held in Miami, from 20 to 22 June 2017.

Anass Cherki El Idrissi received the 'René Houpert' young researchers award at the 'Rencontres Annuelles Universitaires de Génie Civil' organised this year by the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering from 22 to 24 May in Nantes.

Having previously secured major ERC funding to undertake their research, Nicolas Moës (Dean of Research at Centrale Nantes) and researcher Gilles Marckmann have been awarded a grant of €150,000 to develop the industrial applications of their research.

The Floatgen project for the first offshore wind turbine in France, which is soon to be completed in the Port of Saint-Nazaire, received the “prix Energies Renouvelables” (Renewable Energies Award) for the 2017 Trophées de la Transition Energétique (Energy Transition Trophy) organised by L'Usine Nouvelle during a ceremony on Tuesday 16 May in the presence of Jean Jouzel, climatologist and former vice-president of the IPCC.

Sophie Sakka, lecturer at Centrale Nantes, was appointed a Knight of the French National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l'Ordre national du mérite) at the beginning of May 2017. Congratulations to our outstanding researcher and president of the Robots! association.

The Nantes-based digital initiative "Nantes 1900", to which Centrale Nantes contributed, has received a ‘Territoires innovants’ (Innovative areas) award from the Interconnectés Association.

The 25th SAMPE France Technical Days were held on 17 & 18 November in Montargis and at the HUTCHINSON Research Centre. Congratulations to the team of six Centrale Nantes students, winners of the national Composite Bridge competition. This is the second win for Centrale Nantes since 2013.

A look back at the “Prix de l'ingénierie du futur” (Engineering of the future prize) on 19th October 2016. The “Ma Paille” (My Straw) Centrale Nantes student project team didn’t make it onto the podium, but the experience was very rewarding.

Corentin Hermange, PhD student at the LHEEA Laboratory (Hydrodynamics, Energetics & Atmospheric Environment), received the best student paper award at the "Conference on Violent Flows" held in Osaka, Japan from 9th to 11th March.

10-vins, a start-up of the Centrale-Audencia-ensa business incubator, receives the "Best Start-up Award" at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The seven winners of the "Trophées Europe 1 de l’Environnement" were announced on Monday 21 December at a ceremony in the presence of Ségolène Royal.

Congratulations to Panagiotis KOTRONIS, Professor at Centrale Nantes and member of the Research Institute in Civil and Mechanical Engineering (GeM). In recognition of his research, he has been awarded the AFPS (French Association for Earthquake Engineering) prize.

Nicolas MOES, Professor at Centrale Nantes, will be awarded the CNRS Silver Medal on September 23, 2014 at Centrale Nantes for the originality, quality and impact of his nationally and internationally recognized work.
