QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026: Centrale Nantes ranked in the top 250 in the world for Mechanical Engineering

Centrale Nantes is now ranked for two new subjects : Materials Sciences and Computer Science.

• Mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing - top 250, 4th school in France
• Engineering and technology -  Centrale Nantes stands at 355th in the world for this subject, 5th school in France
• Materials sciences - ranked 401 - 550
• Electrical and electronic engineering : ranked 401 - 550 
• Computer science and information systems : ranked 751-850

This ranking highlights Centrale Nantes’ reputation for excellence in research and education, as illustrated, for example, by:

• 7 Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters, 5 of which are coordinated in-house
• 80% of our graduates across all programmes are in post within 3 months or less
• 18 Centrale Nantes researchers among the World's Top 2% Scientists named by Stanford University
• 48% of our publications are published with international collaboration

Ranking methodology and performance

This year, the QS World University Rankings analysed the reputation and research output of 1,900 international institutions across 55 specific disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing). Five indicators determine the rankings:

• academic reputation
• employer reputation
• research citations per paper
• H-index
• international research network.
