Research My current research focuses on the numerical and experimental modelling of non-linear gravity waves in the oceans. I am working on the development of efficient numerical models in this field, in particular using pseudo-spectral methods (High-Order Spectral (HOS) method). Using these models, I am interested in understanding non-linear processes during wave generation and propagation (instabilities, extreme waves, etc.). The inclusion of additional physical processes in non-linear wave models is also an area of research: wave breaking, spatially variable bathymetry and currents, wind forcing, dissipation due to wave run-up, etc. In addition to the numerical approach, I also carry out experimental research in the LHEEA's wave facilities, in particular the towing tank (140 m long, 5 m wide and 3 m deep) and the ocean engineering tank (50 m long, 30 m wide and 5 m deep). The aim is to improve our understanding of the physical phenomena at work during the propagation of non-linear waves and to develop and improve methods for generating waves in the basin, from both a deterministic and stochastic point of view, which is essential for ocean engineering tests (wave-structure interactions). On the topic of wave-structure interactions, I am working in close collaboration with other members of the LHEEA on the implementation of effective coupling strategies between the HOS method and CFD-type high-fidelity solvers. I am also interested in developing methods to improve the reliability of approaches used for the design of marine structures in terms of extreme response or fatigue (design waves). My research activities lead me to take part to different collaborations and research projects. For instance: ANR projects (French National Research Agency): Dysturb, CREATIF, SOGOOD, etc. European projects (H2020): FLOATECH, FLOATFARM French investment for the future: IRT Jules Verne, LabEx MER, ISite NExT, etc. …
