This sector, which straddles industrial engineering and materials science, is rethinking production to combine performance and efficiency. The development of low-carbon, bio-based or recycled materials is paving the way for a more environmentally friendly industry. Intelligent processes, supported by additive manufacturing, manipulative robotics, and virtual and augmented reality, are transforming design and production methods. Together, these innovations are laying the foundations for a sustainable, flexible and competitive industry capable of meeting the environmental and technological challenges of tomorrow.
Centrale Nantes and EDYCEM have been working together on a research chair in sustainable concrete since 2015, focusing on ready-mix concrete, precast concrete, and aggregates with a view to reducing the environmental footprint of concrete design.
