- 1st FLOAWER eventMarch 9, 2020On March 3 and 4, Centrale Nantes hosted the first FLOAWER event. Gathering around 40 people, it was the perfect opportunity to meet all the different partners of the project.
- Arrival of Daniel Hatfield, ESR3 at DTUApril 1, 2020Daniel Hatfield is the first ESR who started his PhD work within our project.Since the beginning of April he's dedicating his time and work around "Offshore wind resource at deep sea applying satellite data and numerical modelling" in DTU, Denmark.

He's dedicating his time and work around "Ability of vertical axis wind turbines to be a competitive alternative to horizontal axis wind turbines for floating offshore applications" for the next 36 months.
- Rogue waves form from random waves - tests in the towing tankSeptember 15, 2020Rogue waves are very powerful ocean waves, which can form on both calm and rough seas. This sudden and unpredictable phenomenon may be rare, but it needs to be studied. It has recently been the subject of joint collaboration between researchers from Centrale Nantes - via the LHEEA - the CNRS and the universities of Paris and Lille. Tests in wave tanks have shown that a set of random waves can also provoke the formation of rogue waves, thus providing better understanding.

- Jie Yang receives the Centrale Innovation 2020 Thesis PrizeNovember 1, 2020Jie YANG completed his PhD at the GeM Institute and defended his thesis at Centrale Nantes on 8 July 2019. He was awarded the Centrale Innovation 2020 thesis prize in November 2020.
